Vertical ANTiquated Arcade Game Emulator

VAntAGE is designed purely as a replacement for your 'classic' arcade board collection.

It was written to be as small and fast as possible (to keep the cost of the host PC to a minimum) and to run the arcade games 'as intended'.

With this in mind:
It supports rotation (i.e. correctly orientated video),screen flipping, cocktail modes (for all games),
on screen video mode tweaking (see section Video Mode Tweaking),arcade monitor output and various options to run 'tall' vertical games on a horizontal arcade monitor
(see section Vertical Games on a Horizontal Arcade Monitor)

Have a look at the Benchmarks section to get an idea of the target PCs that VAntAGE can be run on

Installation

Unzip VANT-112.ZIP (with directory extraction on) onto your hard drive.

You should now have the following files:

VANTAGE.EXE - VAntAGE binary
VANTAGE.FNT - VAntAGE's UI font

as well as the following sub-directories:

\dips
- this is where VAntAGE saves dip switch settings for games

\io
- this is where VAntAGE saves recordings of games

\keys
- this is where VAntAGE saves keyboard setups for games

\precalc
- this is where VAntAGE saves precalculated graphics data
(see section - 'Precalculated Data' for more info)

\roms
- place ROM sets here

\snapshot
- this is where VAntAGE saves screen shots of games

\sounds
- place VAntAGE sample sets here

Once VAntAGE has been run once, it will generate the config file:

VANTAGE.CFG

VAntAGE supports the use of zipfiles for both ROM sets and sample sets.
VAntAGE uses the same ROM naming convention as MAME, and also supports
MAME's merged ROM sets.
