Video Mode Tweaking
VAntAGE uses tweaked VGA video modes for all its modes.
These are designed to be as compatible as possible across
video cards/monitors - as well as running at the same vertical refresh
rates as the original games.
VAntAGE's 'Tweak Display' option in its UI allows you to both center
and size all of these video modes (whilst the game your tweaking is running):
If you're using a SVGA/VGA monitor horizontally - you can use this to
create more authentic video modes.
i.e. modes with an aspect ratio closer to that of the original vertical
arcade monitor.
Just increase the horizontal display total, then use centerx to move
the new mode back to the center of the screen.
rate will then be lower than the original arcade monitor ran at.
If you're using a standard res arcade monitor - you can use this to
'fine tune' the modes to work correctly on your monitor.
