D-Hat as Axes?

Folks—

I've run into a Robotron clone on the TRS-80 Color Computer that uses both joysticks in the proper fashion. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the ability in the MAME UI to configure the D-hat on my thrusty to act as the axes for the fire joystick. They'll map to analog inc and dec perfectly fine, but that's not the operation I'm going for.

Am I missing something obvious to make this work?
