Whichever side of this you're on, one truth remains: any accusation of illegitimacy that is not addressed invites more accusations of illegitimacy, and it exponentially increases the odds that said accusations have something to them. If somebody cries foul, you either address what they're basing it on or expect more people to cry foul.
