AracdeVGA, Windows 10, Direct Draw and unstretched resolutions.

Mame gurus,

Bringing back an old topic. I have talked directly to Andy about this, but wanted to see if anyone here could provide some input.

I have a Windows 10 machine with an ArcadeVGA 5000 and a Well Gardner 9200 monitor. I am trying to setup original resolutions. I have setup everything according to Ultimarc directions on their website and most of the games are working fine (i.e. PacMan, MsPacMan, etc). Some games are not, like Frogger and Galaxian for exmaple. They work if I turn on stretching, but if I don't, the screen is chopped off on the top and bottom.

I understand that unstretched original resolutions work with Direct Draw (supported Mame 0.170 and before). I have a friend that has a similar setup with Windows 2000 and an early version of Mame and the resolutions are perfect, so I'm trying to get Direct Draw to work in Windows 10 or, as a last resort, I may have to downgrade to an earlier operating system.

I see, based on the Windows 10 dxdiag, that Direct Draw is Enabled in Windows 10 (along with Direct 3D). I tried downloading Mame 0.170, setting the video mode to ddraw and turning off hwstretch (along with all of the other settings, but it doesn't seem to be using Direct Draw.

It it possible to get Direct Draw to work in Windows 10 or do I have to go back to Windows 7 or before?

Thanks
