I found all the correct mame.ini locations on Ubuntu 20.04 and tried to edit them. The mame.ini file under /snap file path was read only even though the file permissions was 644. So I just copied all the rom files to every location where MAME would be looking for roms. But it still didn't work.
Quote:
$ sudo find / -name mame.ini
/snap/mame/2334/mame.ini /home/myuser/snap/mame/2334/.mame/mame.ini /etc/mame/mame.ini
Then I tried this approach instead.
Quote:
~/mame/roms$ mame xmvsf.zip -rompath ./
Error opening translation file English ALSA lib seq.c:935:(snd_seq_open_noupdate) Unknown SEQ default dl-1425.bin NOT FOUND (tried in qsound_hle xmvsf) Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run.

~/mame/roms/xmvsf$ mame xmvsf.zip -rompath ./

- I'm thinking that Ubuntu 20.04 might have messed up their MAME installation files in their APT and Snap repositories.
- But I also think my X-Men vs. Streetfighter files are no longer working.
- So is there a simple test rom file I can use to test if everything with my MAME installation is connecting correctly?
