I launched the game (jrpacman) and when I select "External DAT view" from the TAB menu, I'm getting the a2600 machine info instead of the jrpacman info BUT MAME don't crashes here. (I'll try to contact the right person in the hope to modify this, the item entry should be displayed instead of the machine entry when an item is plugged in)
I don't know why it's crashing on your side.
