Finally happened. Not quite ready to rebuild a new system yet, so I had to throw like $150 down on old-ass DDR3. Want to keep everything the same speed and latency so instead of ordering another 2x8GB kit, I ordered a full 4x8GB kit (or rather, 2 of the same 2x8GB kit). Max of 32GB according to my motherboard.
Haven't noticed a problem, even running my Ubuntu VM until now. Trying to build Android Q for the Switch... hot damn, I'm basically out of RAM in both Windows and on the VM (feeding 8GB to each while running the VM)!
Why no new system yet? Tired of deciding to upgrade just before a socket change. Ditched AMD a long time ago (after Athon 4 maybe?), but the combo of a 5000 series proc with a 6800xt or 6900xt video card, with an x570 chipset, sounds tempting. Problem is that 1) I can't find any in stock, and 2) I'm hearing that these will probably be the last to use socket AM4.
Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!
