The previous closest example was when Nixon had resigned in late summer 1974 with condition that Ford would pardon Nixon before the potential federal charges would be filed. And then Flynn's recent pardon topped the 1970s example.

Pardon can only be for federal charges. State charges he will still have to answer to such as in case NY state grand jury indicts the jackass on possible state criminal charges. As for now the possible forseable charges are currently civil charges, but there might be serious state charges appearing at a later time.

Most in the legal field believe only credible manuver is resign and the VP christofascist
pardon the jackass.

A couple weeks ago, my guess would be like Al Pacino's Scarface movie character ending, but nearly all of the various court decisions have gone against him. My current guess is him waddling out of 1600 Penn Ave with a sourpuss face and then trying to get to any planned rally that will be doing its thing at same time while Biden is doing inauguration ceremony.
