Republicans ready to become deficit hawks again under a President Biden

Republicans are preparing to re-embrace their inner deficit hawk after greenlighting big spending bills under President Trump.

GOP senators say they expect to refocus on curbing the nation's debt and reforming entitlement programs starting in 2021, as the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the debt has surpassed the size of the American economy.

"I think that's kind of getting back to our DNA. ...I think spending, entitlement reform, growth and the economy are all things that we're going to have to be focused on next year and, yeah, I would expect you'll hear a lot more about that," said Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), the No. 2 Senate Republican.

The shift could pose a significant headache for a new Biden administration that will need GOP support in the Senate to move its agenda. It is also likely to complicate efforts on a debt-ceiling deal.

Used to be two viewpoints by conservatives would spout off with:

"Allow a businessman to be President and the country will be in better shape compared
to a politician."

The past four years is proof of what happens.....especially when it is a 'many multiple
failed businesses" businessman who claims smart success is paying as little amount of
taxes as possible while having to beg money from US based financial institutions to keep
afloat or also rely on foreign interests criminal enterprises as well along with
dictatorships.

The current example demonstrates why CEOs and businessmen without any government
experience need not apply.

The other old GOP argument is: defense budget must never be cut whatsoever.

That too is also out the window. When the jackass wanted to raid the defense budget
and extract between 100 Billion to 400 Billion from the defense budget to build the
useless WALL, the federal courts gave approval to the jackass to raid the defense budget
and grab whatever amount is needed. An example of why the defense budget can be
significantly reduced without having to go to some budget battle with some of the crooked
and some of the insane GOP congress members. Keep in mind that the armed services Stars
and Stripes newspaper operating budget was slashed down to zero courtesy of former
Defense secretary M. Esper which that money eventually also went towards the WALL scam
project.

What good is a strong defense budget when the possibility of several millions of
Americans keel over from virus pandemic. That defense spending should be earmarked
to HHS department instead in order to fund CDC and NIS health departments and
also to rebuild the "National stockpile" of medicine that prior GOP houses have either
not replenished because of their spending cuts or lately with "super son-in-law Jared"
have been likely stealing supplies and selling off to highest bidders across the globe.

I would like to believe that some of this will get resolved, but the first thing is
any of the GOP legislatures in congress for next year need to be ignored or called out by
Biden and Democratic leaders to show that GOP only support the one percent billionaires
or multimillionaires and the general public be damned.

Do not negotiate with GOP congress members because they have never negotiated either over
past four years. Time to return favor and pound GOP conservatives when it comes to future
budget battles.

An example from one poster that mentions budget spending and also mentions a couple
solutions.
