I've been referring to as lake bottom, because it feel like Intel is sinking fast. Intel is so desperate they are back porting a 10nm design to 14nm++++++++++++++++++, and to make it work they are dropping two cores. I can only imagine how much power it's going to suck down.
But at least we will actually get a new architecture this time, and not just tweak or two with more cores and a clock speed bump like we got with the last three generations.
I guess it will come down to if their idea of double digit IPS improvement means barely 10% or something impressive like 20%.
