It is one thing where it might be grudgingly acceptable of unidentified officers sent to protect a US Federal courthouse properties, but roaming around the city areas outside of federal courthouse properties and ('kidnapping'?) residents, some that were not involved with past riots but just simply being in the nearby vicinity.....no f'n excuse for this shit. It should not have happened in Chile either in early 1970s, but Nixon, Kissinger, promoted and encouraged that to happen back then in Chile.

Back to present, Oregon leaders (Governor, various mayors) did not signal any requests for assistance to deal with riots and the request by Oregon officials to have federal agents leave the area are being ignored. This is the stuff that better not be ignored, but paid attention to especially US citizens even though the virus outbreak is still the main problem for now.

As top federal law enforcement officials arrived in Oregon on Thursday, Gov. Kate Brown accused President Donald Trump of deploying federal officers to Portland to crack down on protesters as a way to boost his flailing reelection prospects.

In an uncharacteristically harsh statement, Brown responded to Trump's deployment of federal officers to quell Portland's protests against police violence. Those officers sent one demonstrator to the hospital July 11 with a munition to the face.

"This political theater from President Trump has nothing to do with public safety," Brown said. "The president is failing to lead this nation. Now he is deploying federal officers to patrol the streets of Portland in a blatant abuse of power by the federal government."

UPDATE (7:46 p.m. PT) — In the early hours of July 15, after a night spent protesting at the Multnomah County Justice Center and Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse, Mark Pettibone and his friend Conner O’Shea decided to head home.

It had been a calm night compared to most protesting downtown. By 2 a.m. law enforcement hadn’t used any tear gas and, with only a few exceptions, both the Portland Police Bureau and federal law enforcement officers had stayed out of sight.

A block west of Chapman Square, Pettibone and O’Shea bumped into a group of people who warned them that people in camouflage were driving around the area in unmarked minivans grabbing people off the street.

Federal Law Enforcement is there to protect Federal buildings yet now breaking the law by picking up protesters from other areas of downtown.

Despot Trump has sent federal police to a city without the invitation from that city's Mayor nor that state's Governor. According to many reports by serious news agencies: "Federal law enforcement officers have been using unmarked vehicles to drive around downtown Portland and detain protesters since at least July 14. Personal accounts and multiple videos posted online show the officers driving up to people, detaining individuals with no explanation of why they are being arrested, and driving off." Seriously people??? Are we all so young we forget what happened in Germany, or Argentina or dozens of other countries under the leadership of a despot? This is America, and we are allowing this to occur on our streets. I guarantee that in every one of those countries there was a "legitimate reason" being touted. A line needs to be drawn and needs to be drawn right now. That line will not be one made up of lawyers. Despot Trump couldn't care less about the law, to him it is something to be gotten around. If I were Governor right now, some staffer would be working really hard to talk me out of calling up the Oregon National Guard and having them surround the protests FACING OUT- there to protect the protesters from the minions of the despot. How bad will we allow This to get? The very thing that the right wingers fear the most is happening, it's just not happening to them. Remember - the rule of law only protects you if the person with the physical power over you also believes in the rule of law. Despot Trump does not.
