I completely agree with this. It could be called -silent_on_success or something like that.
I'll look into implementing this sometime later this evening or tomorrow.
This won't get rid of the modal that pops up prompting you to press a key when loading or saving a state, but it will at least suppress the lingering message after you save or load a state, if successful.
I'm thinking it could also suppress the partial/full keyboard-switch messages. Are there any other situation where MAME throws messages up on top of the running machine on a successful operation?
