a quick funny story while we're at it.

last year, i chased down a framemeister and hooked up some things upstairs with my n64, and all my other systems. i also chased down a copy of resident evil 2 for n64. i spent weeks playing around with the framemeister on all my systems and just salivating for the day i'd pick up my re2 copy from some lady in florida.

i spent the next week on vacation in florida - taking the carts apart and cleaning them, reading about it, and just generally fantasizing about getting back home and playing it. (i missed out on this port when it originally launched). i was in the throes of a resident evil obsession (still am), and i counted down the days of vacation remaining so i could get back home.

get back home, unpack, run upstairs. the game is completely unplayable - every time you enter the menu/pause/inventory screen or even some in-game scene transitions, there's an internal resolution switch to 480 that an analog tv doesn't even notice. the framemeister combo sends my (and any newer) televisions into a 6-8 second input source detection period before returning to the game.

apparently, re2 is one of a few n64 games that does this. lmao. i don't know that i would have felt any worse than if i'd received news that somebody got killed.

i learned everything i know from KC
