they consider the newer ones to be broken because they're slower.

they've literally told us to fix the newer ones (so that they perform like the old ones) or stop harassing them to remove the older ones.

this either shows
a) they're just assholes because they know this is an impossible request so they feel they use it to justifying continuing to offer these builds that we'd rather not see in active use.
b) are complete charlatans who have no idea or understanding about emulation development
or
c) actually expect us to regress the project to a point where it's impossible to develop and would just die because there's so much code overhead in each and every driver for per game / per system cases rather than making use of the nice features of the framework we have today.

it also absolutely confirms that they don't care that people are using RA as a loophole in commercial environments to download non-commercial cores directly from their interface, thus allowing people to seamlessly make commercial use of non-commercial software. it confirms that they don't actually care about the Open Source community at all.

They'll also keep calling us hypocrites because we still offer the versions for download on our pages, again either purposely ignoring the fact that having to dig though a webpage containing many hundred of versions of an emulator in the 'old releases' section is very different to a few check-picked versions directly in a front-end being presented basically as current software, or again doing this because they have no real understanding of anything.

and these are the so-called gatekeepers of emulation, the ones positioning themselves as a representative portal for the development scene, and collecting money on behalf of all the work being done with a minimal amount ending up where it's actually needed.

I'm not for a minute believing they're ignorant, so that doesn't really leave many other ways for me to view the behaviour.
