Best way to deal with many versions of a single driver?

Hello... with one of the goals of HBMAME being to support as many different HACKS and non-release versions of different games... I was wondering what the suggested way to implement drivers with very specific versions...

for example... if I want to get CSUM+HASH accurate versions of the mhavocpe driver.... I think the only real way to do that would be to clutter up the source with drivers that are version specific...
