Yep. Extraneous work having to be updated (either manual or automated) on a yearly basis when really not needed other than the year it was first released or copyrighted. Adding to that issue are re-releases as well that adds more work.
To paraphrase Peter Sellers' line with Haze's quote: "...rather pointless automatically generated string, that is only going to go out of date is like train without wheels very soon you get nowhere."
