MAMEWorld Forums - News - pfeMAME version 2.7.2 has been released today

This is an important bug fix release.I have found that with python3.7 an object type received from a function has changed, thus breaking my code. This may have manifested in other ways also so I couldn't wait to release the fix. In addition there are a heap of improvements to the game specific preferences slot configurations for systems. You can no modify slot configurations that have already been saved, although you have to toggle the slot type first, and cascaded slots now appear under their parent rather than at the end of the list.

Another great improvement is the almost 100 times speed improvement of the check_all_games function.

Check out the changelog for more details on all of the changes and improvements. The slot options is still ongoing work and could do with quite a lot of improving but it works and is a nifty feature. As per the last release, if you have any issues with a slot configuration (the program wont load in MAME, pfeMAME preferences wont work any more, or pfeMAME crashes or wont load, track down the game.ini file (should be located in your INI folder) and delete it.

Please note that I don't have enough time at the moment to build the Linux release. Should be ready soon though.

pfeMAME is a front end for the Multiple Arcade Game Emulator (MAME) written in Python. It is cross platform (tested on Linux - Ubuntu and Windows). It also includes a graphical Tile View designed for MAME cabinets which allows control using joystick / gamepad. It supports favorite game flagging, MESS systems, and a Tiled view for arcade cabinets. It was written with a minimalist view in mind but also because there were some features I wanted that other front ends just didn't provide.
