>especially since it (the alcoholism) could have been treated, at least is he was open for it.
I wasn't sure how things were handled between he and his family. I believe he might have taken some drugs as well, but I suspect it was more of the drinking issue. His neighbor Walt believed he went in for surgery a few years prior, but unsure of what. There was either a small family service or maybe no service. I never found out myself, but another former childhood neighborhood friend might have known the cause and whether a service took place. He moved away to east coast by 2003 and I loss contact with him. At this point it is just good memories and a few photos with he and in high school marching band drumline (I snare drum, he one of the bass drum players) back in 1982 school year.
>Not sure what got Joel in the end....it hasn't been released.
That gets me when not being able to find out what happened and thinking could there have been a chance to change outcome.
The one passing that gets to me is one of my cousins passing back in 2010 and I still never get the exact truth of what really happened. It's too bad because he was one of the two younger brothers who would go with me to Knott's Berry Farm back in the 1970s.
It was he and his older bother would wrassle around with each other while arguing. That happened inside Knott's Berry Farms Buffalo Nickel arcade while at the Sprint 8 cab that was there in Buffalo Nickel arcade. It was when a cup of tokens spilled over on to the ground and an attendant came over to yell at all three of us. :-) Had to have happened in 1979 iirc which was last year that the arcade had side by side cabs of Nintendo WG along with Shooting Trainer as well. I posted this annecdote before when Roc and twisty were running things here.
The two brothers (cousins) did face off against each other using MAME and some game such as Astro Blaster way back in the days. I never got a chance to be there since they were out-of-state. They would probably still be pushing each other when facing off with Astro Blaster.....actually I can see them doing that if they faced each other while playing MAME and running Sprint 8.
I believe I now know what my next question will be when I talk to my cousin next time around.
>BTW - that's smittdogg's head on a stick in the pic
Yep. It still cracks me up...or as Fazeo used to say back in the day..."Heh."
