What I know about these satellite terminal games in general:
Networking is the same on their respective hardware. Royal Ascot links the same way as with other Sega X Board games like Super Monaco GP albeit the use of ten boards. The "server" board and roms has its link id set to master while any other boards, client or live, would be set to "slave". I'm pretty sure the program roms would determine their network id and function but idk if it's the case for all games.
I can't tell how Royal Ascot will turn out. I like seeing network emulation done but satellite terminal games are a bit overkill to me.
