Yay! Got it today. It'll be several weeks before I can install it though. Also looked at the Oculus again for the 500th time. $349 now with the touch controllers (but without rear sensors). I studied the minimum specs and searched forums for compatibility with an original i7 920 CPU. Something didn't seem right, so I searched through my old email to see when I bought the r9 290x and learned a couple of things.
1) I bought it May of 2014. More than 4 years on a single video card that can still hold its own! (considering I don't have a 4k monitor)
2) I don't know how I forgot this, but I upgraded my RAM/CPU/MB at the same time as well (Actually, I do know how... I've only had this laptop for months now). I'm not running an i7 920, I'm running an i7 4790. With this new video card, I'm more than capable of pushing everything this and the next Rift can take (and could have at least used it without the Vega).
I've only got 1 thing to do before *finally* picking up the Rift. Look at the packaging and decide whether I can/want to bother carrying it back to Japan with me, or to wait until I get there and order it online.
Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!
