Gokujyou Parodius sound effect crackling (MAME 0.197)?

I'm running vanilla MAME 0.197 from MAMEDev.org and while the music for Gokujyou Parodius is fine, I get audio crackling with certain sound effects (e.g., adding a coin). I've adjusted volume in the games test mode as well as adjusted audio latency for MAME to no avail.

Being that the background audio/music is fine, I'm assuming this is a bug, but I wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone else is hearing the same thing.
