Background: I don't have a dedicated Mame system and I only play Pac-Man (sometimes Mr. Do!). Today while playing the game would stutter. I turned off my virus software and checked Autoruns for any weird background software. Nothing worked. Then I saw my desktop background change. I had it set to change every ten seconds. I went to a static background and now Pac-Man works.
Question: Does anyone know how or know of a piece of software (trick, batch file, etc.) to turn off any unnecessary software or unnecessary Windows’ features before launching Mame? For example: it would turn off the desktop rotation images option, turnoff virus software, turn off any background apps, etc.
I may sound a bit lazy having to do these things manually every time I wish to use Mame (a small price to pay for such a wonderful program), but if a solution exists why not use it.
