> Seeing that updated map is super kewl!
It really is sweet.
The story of the server is an interesting one - first it was hosted by a company I picked, then this other company that my friend suggested, then another company, then it was transferred to Realms, and now finally it's on a colo'd server on a dedicated box.
The viking ship-looking building slightly to the upper-right of Spawn Town has a funny history. The stone part in the exact center of it wasn't originally intended to be there: My partner built it, then built a fireplace in the exact center of the building, indoors. A building made entirely out of wood. He asked me to come by and have a look at it to show it off, and even now I distinctly recall saying to him, "Some of this wood looks kind of close to the fireplace. You should check the wiki for the fire spread mechanics."
Well, naturally, he insisted that he'd looked it up beforehand, and that everything would be fine.
Everything was not fine.
I was back down in my mine when from a few feet away on the adjoining couch, he starts going, "Help! Fire! Help! Help!" I of course ran back topside and looked, and of course, the whole place was on fire.
Being the magnanimous type, and since this occurred prior to the time that the server was hosted with Minecraft Realms, I immediately stopped the server, downloaded the map, looked up how to turn off fire spreading, started the map and immediately disabled fire spreading, then manually got rid of all of the fire. I reuploaded the edited world and my partner got to work fixing all of the burnt-out wood blocks as well as adding a more robust fireplace.
Not really sure where I was going with this story. Just find it funny, is all.
