Understood. So why doesn't it sound that muffled on a real machine? I've watched YouTube footage of real machines, even captured from a microphone picking up the speaker playback from a distance it still sounds clearer than MAME does. I'm ass down to how it's processed through the speakers?
That said, the voice samples are still too low in volume relative to everything else, but I believe that's covered by the "sound emulation isn't 100% accurate" warning, and when the issue was posted to MAMEtesters Tafoid closed it saying it was covered under the emulation being know to not be 100% accurate. I wonder if anybody's looked into it though.
