Depends on the game. Some games have their own boot sector and work alone, some others need to boot a Disk Operative System (DOS) first and others need to be installed into a Hard Disk Drive.

Next you will need to learn how to configure system files properly so you have enough free conventional memory available. Something many DOS games demand.
