I'm looking for a Karate Champ bootleg version which has an alternate dialog between the little girl and the white fighter after winning a match, where she says "My Hero Deserves The Fair" instead of the original "MY HERO" with a red heart. Here is a video on Youtube where you can see the alternate dialog...go straight to 3:22

And so, I've found a dumped romset called "karate 2" complete with great pictures of the PCB, which is not emulated yet. So I downloaded the file in order to try it out using the current kchamp.cpp MAME driver. After locating the graphic ROMS (16 in total) and renaming them accordingly to match the names of the ROMS in MAME, I've tried them out successfully but it seems to be the exact same game, and the dialog baloon remained the same. When entering in the tilemode map (F4), the graphics for the dialog baloons are the same of the emulated version, with no apparent mods. You can see the bootleg PCB pictures here:

Now my questions are: Could the CPU alter some of the game graphics "on the fly", since this bootleg PCB has some modifications to one of the main CPU files and a small piggy back on the back of the main board? Or all game graphics are always taken from the graphics ROM libraries to display them on screen without any mods?
