The major hype is that the new adaptor is far more homebrew-friendly; games running on the Saturn can do standard file I/O to the USB drive, which makes it possible to write trojans that output their results to a file on USB rather than on the screen.
Also, it allows music players and simple emulators since you don't have to pack the program with the roms/mods/whatever anymore.
And finally, it can use cue/bin rips that everyone already has, where Deunan requires DiscJuggler or CloneCD images.
