The default output gives a tall and skinny image. If you change snapsize in the ini to x3 the original game resolution (672x768) you get a normal image. I found this out by seeing the feature in the ui of FX, but perusing the mame.ini will benefit those using the command line/baseline mame.
And, on that note, I haven't much liked Galaxian. Until a couple weeks ago, where I found that you can get very close to bullets and survive. I was amazed. Unfortunately, this was long before I knew of the trick above, and I didn't record the inp. At about thirteen seconds is the example.
