Um, that shouldn't necessarily have that effect. My FWB is 55 (or 6), and she's a hot bitch when she's in the mood, which is based mostly on her energy level. At the least, your wife's hormones just aren't balanced, and there's plenty you can do about that.
Something else that comes to mind is, are you constantly affectionate with her? Or would you be, but she doesn't like that?
