because, credited or not, I still worked on the driver, sorted out a lot of initial stuff, ensured the dumps were fine etc.
or are you now saying that anybody not credited isn't worth a thanks? because that's a LOT of people, doing stuff that the team doesn't consider 'copyright worthy' and MAME would be nowhere without them.
one of the big things i've done for a lot of devs over the years is work out the basics, hook up the gfxdecodes etc. because believe it not that is a skill, and one a lot of devs, who are very good in other areas, have struggled with. likewise we don't typically credit people who have done dips, or code analysis, but their contributions have been invaluable.
it's a team, don't forget that.
