Yes. These machine drivers will need to be rewritten/refactored by someone else or the original contributors will need to take notice that their work has put aside and approach the development team in order for their code to be added once more properly attributed. In the end there is very little loss in that previous versions can always be used by end users and progress is made toward full project relicensing.
