I have a pretty good workaround for you that'll do the job for now.

For OSX/Linux, use symlinks.

For Windows, hard link the folders as needed using Link Shell Extension (http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html) or command line tools as appropriate.

I used to do this to move Steam apps to other drives back before it had multiple library support.
