Re: Having -at least marginally- more success with linux mint.

I got that working last night at some point. The drive (a 30GB partition, anyway) mounts properly, and I installed Steam and KSP on it. I can run the game, until I start adding mods. After a dozen or so it just shuts down without so much as a crash log.

The bit you quoted isn't all I needed, and I had read through something way too long that it said to read in terminal. It assumes the reader knows things, and doesn't bother saying what those things are, so there's more to read that I couldn't find.

The issue with reading things online is that there is a lot of really bad "help" available, and searches turn up that rather than anything official. Saying "Put the files in the appropriate places and run them" really isn't any help, and when the files you name are no longer part of the things you say to download, well, nice try.

This "mint" is not looking very good. The firefox included with it is outdated, and that needs to be updated, along with flash. I found instructions for "upgrading" it that varied from "completely worthless" to "well, it sort of works now, but it's a mess."

I'm getting the impression that nothing is going to work right unless I do a full install.
