I just want to use my RAM, rammit.

At "some point," KSP will be releasing v1.1, using Unity 5, fixing most of its problems.

Right now, I have to use the 32bit version because too many mods refuse to even try running with the Windows 64bit edition.

It has a memory leak.

At startup, I'm using about 2300MB RAM + whatever it offloads to the graphics card.
Each scene change (entering/leaving one of the buildings or the map) adds a bit to that number.
The amount varies. More parts means more RAM. More mods means more RAM.

Squad (KSP devs) is... "very supportive" of the mod community. As in, they are themselves a large part of it, and they release things that belong in the game as mods to it.

Mods by TriggerAU (4), NathanKell (3-9, depending on what you want), RoverDude (as many as 18!), and PorkJet (only 1 at present, as his parts have been included now) are standard parts of the game, and there are a further handful needed to support those.
Then there's Stock Bug Fix, Strip Symmetry, Remote Tech, RealChute, Kerbal Engineer...

I've had to remove the mod that adds clouds. Clouds, dammit, come on! How can you have jets and rockets without clouds?

So, I want Robotics. I want to put an arm in a cargo bay and use it to grab things.

I've got about a GB of memory I can use, and a leak that fills it.

And don't forget the mod that warns me when I'm about to run out of space. In space. Graphic Memory Monitor. Oh, and be sure to add QuickExit so I can shut it down without having to go through five more scene changes when I'm in the red.

16GB. -12.5GB.
A bunch of people people saying "run the Linux version, it's easy. Just follow these instructions."

Sure.
