Honestly, the only kind of "old dog" that would think any command console is DOS is someone in his 20's or early 30's and grew up on a PC, never realizing that there were other kinds of computers out there. He's using the term "old dog" to imply an experienced user who has been around for a while, yet that's exactly the sort of person who would actually know the difference between DOS and a command console.
