I wasn't sure about Clonezilla, so I decided to give Macrium Reflect Free (horrible name) a try based on general positivity of reviews on the web... http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
It seemed to do the job correctly. All three partitions (two hidden) on my original Toshiba laptop HDD were cloned to the new SSD.
However, later when I was poking around in the Samsung Magician software, I realized that I was unable to set up the recommended 10% over provisioning (un-allocated free space) on the SSD.
The "C" partition with Windows 7 is sandwiched between the two hidden partitions. I tried manually shrinking the "C" partition to create un-allocated space, but the Samsung Magician utility apparently won't use space for over provisioning unless it's at the end of the drive.
I'm not really sure what's in the (9GB?) second hidden partition but I think it's Windows images. The laptop comes with both Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro and there's a magical dance you need to do with the BIOS settings the first time you boot the laptop to pick which you get.
