It would appear that I am one of the few freaks that must use an actual controller to play 720 in mame.
The 720 controller has two opto sensors and disks. The X axis has many holes in the disk and the Y axis has two and is used for centering. (I think)
Anyway, I have the X opto wired to the Optipac at the X1, X2 with +5 and grnd and the Y opto connected the same way at the Y1 and Y2 on the Optipac.
I have the machine config in mame set to "Real" for the controller and I have messed with the sensitivities as well.
The problem, of course, is that I get nothing when in the game or control input screens. When everything is hooked up to the Optipac, I am only getting 4.7 volts between the +5 wire and grnd. Is that okay? When checking voltage between the +5 and the X1,X2, Y1,Y2 I do get voltage drops and increases when the slots pass through the opto sensors on the pcb.
Is there a way to check the output from the Optipac to my computer? Could the Optipac be bad? Should I have jumpers of some sort in place? It is connected via USB.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am not a tech by any means and have put a great deal of time and effort into this project and am at a dead end.
