No, but trivializing the issue of someone being transgender is an ignorant dick weasel move. Transgender people don't choose to be born with the wrong body any more than gay people choose to be attracted to men. Seriously, why would anyone actively choose to go through gender reassignment if it weren't a fundamental aspect of what a person is on a neurological level?

People seem to have this idea that sex reassignment is some trivial thing, like there are trans people just waltzing into the nearest cosmetic surgery clinic and getting the snip on a whim, and that just isn't the case. A trans person typically has to be on hormones - which cause mood swings, horrible cramps, and hot flashes among other things - for at least two years before being able to actually go through surgery, and has to be vetted multiple times by multiple psychologists and psychiatrists in order to go through with it. In those two years the person tends to live a reclusive, lonely life due to being unable to walk the street without worrying about being heckled at best or beaten and left for dead by a random person, or god forbid police officer, at worst.

I myself am not transgendered, but a very good friend of mine that I've known for years was. Having seen what she went through during her transition, seeing someone trivialize the Caitlyn Jenner situation as "well they just chose to be a woman" puts my hackles right the hell up.

If you were approaching the Rachel Dolezal situation from the standpoint of "who cares, plenty of white people have been part of the NAACP", I'd be right there with you. However, the justification you're using is based on a false premise. You're comparing apples to zebras. So yeah, I felt like pointing that out to you.
