I had nearly the same computer and after upgrading all the problems in some games went away.
I had an 8800GTX was the only difference and yes I was using a 40 inch TV as output. It wasn't limited to MAME either.
I love have video cards that have HDMI output, it reminds me of when I was using my TV with my C64, 30 years ago.
