Quite as brutal?
All Gradius games.
All Toaplan vertical shooters.
All Raiden games.
All of the various Bullet Hells, like DoDonPachi and its sequels.
And that's just the shooter genre. There are many, many arcade games whose difficulty exceeds Ghost N Goblins.
