Then you must have missed the thread from a week or two ago where Trnzaddict couldn't even understand what an unused variable warning was while trying to butcher MAME to remove state-save/state-load popups. It's not condescension, it's the truth: He's proven himself to lack the technical knowledge to do something like that, so no, there isn't the slightest chance that he could manage something like grafting the HLSL backend onto an older version of MAME. That's without even getting into the fact that that older version of MAME is probably 0.106 or earlier, which was the point at which the entire video system was re-written, making porting the current code using the current API an exercise in futility.
