I am grateful to everyone who worked on the old driver, including Mike Balfour and Nathan Woods.

As some are already aware, there was a rewrite and reorganization of the Apple II hardware emulation by RB previous week.

Justin provides a link on shoutbox message on Bannister's about a test result of Apple II's progress.

In 1999, David Bearman of Archives & Museum Informations,

I decided that the best way to preserve Bearman's article would be to convert it backwards into an Apple II word-processed file, running in Dot Writer, a 1984 Apple II Word Processor so obscure that few records exist of the software itself, much less the process by which it came about.

Due to the JSMESS emulation system, it is possible to boot this "lost" word processor, as of this writing 30 years gone, and read Mr. Bearman's article proclaiming Emulation as an unrealistic, inaccessible solution, while sitting in a browser anywhere in the world.

A skeptic had doubts many years earlier and now in case skeptic is still around this day......the skeptic gets to eat his own words. :-)

It may take a while, but MAME and MESS do eventually catch up and preserve various stuff from ages ago.

The one major issue is the enemy "TIME" and as Haze and others have posted in the past the interest of emulating games or hardware from decades earlier may not be appealing to the younger generation which is understandable, but it would be disappointing if stuff was left out in the history trash bin and not preserved. I am glad some of the obscure electronics and a couple of the handheld games from 1970s are now preserved along with some of the non-cpu arcade games.
