Mainly H.263 MPEG4 with a few cellphone .3GP's thrown in.
Looking for random/arbitrary/automatic every 30 seconds. (Ideally there should be an app that picks "major scene changes", I think Youtube does that for their thumbnails assuming it's not random)
Basically, the short version is that a few events were poorly documented by photos and I'd like to create photos from the available video without taking the time to watch it all over again.

Yeah, I know what VLC can do.
I need to make a LOT from one video. Maybe 1 every 20 seconds or something. And I am hoping that this can be done automatically in faster-than-real time.
1. Process video 2. Collect snapshots 3. Now take the time to choose the less crappy ones.
