The problem here is that if someone were to rewrite reality around you, changing things, you would be the only one to know; if anyone is part of that rewrite, and many people would be, then everyone is, and they would remember things the way the new reality says they have always been. This can only be a "valid" explanation of your misremembering if you are entirely alone in it.
