I bought Strider too (thinking I could tweak the settings and still get it to play on my laptop with i3 processor :-P , I was duped). But, from what I've read, if I were to get a new computer, and if I have my Steam account on it, I should be able to verify integrity of the game cache(?) (or something like that). If the files aren't there it will redownload.
So, you probably could still buy early.... If you wanted it and any bonuses that badly. 
I could almost follow my own advice... But, I guess I can do without it for now.
