No. Louis Johnson's funk resolution is simply too high for you to perceive the individual funkxels. I don't care if you don't like it but you have to tip your hat in respect to this legend. Besides being the second founding father (the 1st being Larry Graham) of this particular style of bass playing as well as completely killing it on this massively facemelting funknugget, Louis Johnson was the bassist on Thriller, Dangerous and Off The Wall.

Listen to it again, but this time concentrate on the bass line, especially the fingered part, because it is out of this world. I WILL learn it, but I'm going to have to slow it down so I can catch everything he's doing.

The first slapped/popped part is impossible for normal human beings. He can't possibly be thumping all of those notes..but I can't discern which notes are popped and which ones are slapped. On the same string no less, and at lightning speed.
