Is there any cons in getting one of those 144hz monitors ?

I'm not sure if I'll get one but I do use alot of emus like mame and wanted to ask first here.

I know I won't use Vsync cause I don't want the games running at 144fps. If I leave the Vsync off which I was doing before anyway, I shouldn't run into any problems and I should just leave the settings still in their default state as before ? I'm using mameui by the way.
