Even if it's not a straight up scam, he could be, essentially, a salesman for a vanity publisher. Even with legit publishers, I've heard some of their e-book imprints have incredibly shitty contracts. I don't mean to rain on your parade, I hope it's the real deal and it works out for you, but just be careful of all the BS out there.
