From time to time I get gastroesophageal reflux. My throat is burnt by the acids coming up to the back of the mouth. Painful and disgusting, ruins my life for a couple hours.
And more rare, but nonetheless I get it one or two times a year, a very small drop of saliva enters the trachea and goes down towards the bronchus. This always happens while I'm asleep, and the result is a laryngospasm, meaning that throat closes. I can expel air, but I can't get it back in. It's an awful feeling since I really think I'm going to die by asphyxia. It goes away in 10-15 seconds but they are painful seconds and leave me with very sore throat, dizziness and severe coughing that worsens the sore throat.
Tonight *both* happened at the same time. Acid reflux went up and entered the trachea, closing everything. This prevented me from trying to swallow down as quick as possible the acid to minimize damage, so it had plenty of time to burn everything. So I was burning inside while trying to breath desperately.
The aftermath was severe coughing each 1-2 breaths during half an hour, with PAAAAIIIIINNNNN. I took some analgesics and it seems they're making effect so I'm back to bed. It's 5am here
Wound up, can't sleep, can't do anything right, little honey / Oh, since I set my eyes on you. / I tell you the truth. I can't get it right / Get it right / Since I met you...
